Other Grocery Stores

If you reside on the west coast of the island and don’t want to drive all the way to the nearest Massy Store, Eroline’s Supermarket is the one. Although the appearance may not compare to that of the upscale Massy Stores, Eroline’s Supermarket has reasonable prices on grocery items. It’s the people’s choice in Soufriere and Canaries.

Additional grocery stores to mention are, The Promise Supermarket in Marigot, Shoprite Wholesale and Retail on Brazil Street Castries and Glace Supermarket in Corinth and Rodney Bay.

Grocery Prices in St.Lucia

Be prepared to pay extra or double for international brands such as Kellogg’s, Welch’s or imported fruits such as grapes, apples, cherries and strawberries. These prices are elevated because of the associated cost from importations overseas, additional profits for store owners plus VAT (government taxes). This is the reason why it is important to shop smart when on island.

On the bright side, locally produced goods are affordable. It’s easy to spot which are local Caribbean brands from international brands. Simply look at the price! For any food category you could either go international (expensive price) or local (cheap price). For example if you are seeking cereal for breakfast and want to save money, go for the Hyde Park cereal brand instead of Kelloggs. Your bill at checkout will thank you and you will get the chance to taste the true Caribbean.

Affordable Grocery Brands

Affordable beverages are Blue Waters, PinehillBlue Waters, Piton Beer, Shandy, Vita Malt, Malta, Supligen, Lucozade Energy Drink, Fruta, Tampico, Trinidad Orange Juice, Busta Soft Drinks, Chubby Soft Drinks,  Cole Cold Soft Drinks and Farm Fresh Dairy Farmers.
Affordable breakfast and lunch brands are Hyde Park Cereal,  Family Choice, Eve, IGA, Sunflower butter, People’s Choice and Rainforest Seafoods.
Affordable snack brands are Sunshine Snacks, Big Foot and Dan Dee.

At Checkout

Various currencies such as USD and EURO are accepted at the cashier as well as visa or master cards. So you don’t need to worry about having the right change, just put it all on the card. If you are a visitor, keep in mind the additional associated cost from your bank when making international charges to your card. It could get expensive if you are not aware of it. Also at checkout, be prepared to buy your own grocery bags! To reduce the amount of pollution on this beautiful island, plastic bags are limited and alternatives are available for purchase.

Getting There

Of course, the best way to get to your nearest grocery store is to drive or walk if it is in close proximity. However, QuikKab is an excellent option if you want to enjoy the traditional methods of grocery shopping. With drivers all over St.Lucia, in every city or town we would love the opportunity to assist you with all your traveling needs at reasonable prices.

On Mondays thru Saturdays between the hours of 7 Am to 6 PM, local vendors unite to sell local goods to the public. These goods include locally grown fruits, vegetables/ground provisions, local hot meals, fresh meats/fish and  local souvenirs. The fresh coconuts, various types of sweet mangoes, the unique spices and the people all brings the special St.Lucian vibe.

The market could get a bit crowded but  the people are very friendly and won’t hesitate to help if any questions. Although a bit persuasive sometimes, the vendors strive for a sale to procure there blessings from days and weeks of hard work.
